Following construction of the Wall, U2 line trains stopped at Gleisdreieck or, after January 1, 1972, at Wittenbergplatz. The lower platform was the terminus for the M-Bahn (maglev train) from 1984-1981.

"Crowds flocked to the so-called "Polish market" every Saturday and Sunday. It was great during and after rain showers due to the giant puddles that would form, making browsing and bargaining at the market so unbelievably attractive. Planks had to serve as piers."
