In spring 1990, Stefan Diepenbrock from West Berlin got his pilot's licence at the Schönhagen airfield in the GDR. He wasn't the only Western trainee pilot to do so. And thanks to the general confusion at the time, it was possible to have the pilot's licence accredited in the Federal Republic.

"Viola Holzmann, stolz nach ihrem ersten Soloflug. Die Z42 im Hintergrund ist die DDR-WOH, die baugleiche Maschine auf der ich meinen ersten Soloflug bestanden hatte. Die Kabine ist mit einer Plane verhängt, die per Druckknöpfen an der Kanzel befestigt wurde. Hier wird Instrumentenflug trainiert."
