Jürgen Warnke, then federal minister for Economic Cooperation at the newly opened border crossing in the divided village of Mödlareuth (
Wikipedia article, retrieved on June 11, 2009) that was known as 'Little Berlin': The Inner German border ran right through the center of the small village of approx. 50 inhabitants and in 1966 GDR border troops erected a concrete wall there similar to the Berlin Wall. A border crossing for foot traffic was opened on 9 December 1989.
