Jürgen Warnke, then federal minister for Economic Cooperation at the newly opened border crossing in the divided village of Mödlareuth (Wikipedia article, retrieved on June 11, 2009) that was known as 'Little Berlin': The Inner German border ran right through the center of the small village of approx. 50 inhabitants and in 1966 GDR border troops erected a concrete wall there similar to the Berlin Wall. A border crossing for foot traffic was opened on 9 December 1989.
