Volkspolizisten mit Schutzschildern am Rathaus in Plauen, wo die erste Großdemonstration in der DDR stattfand, die nicht von Sicherheitskräften aufgelöst werden konnte. Von diesem Zeitpunkt an fanden hier an jedem Samstag bis zu den ersten freien Wahlen am 18. März 1990 Demonstrationen statt. Der 7. Oktober ist als "Tag der Demokratie" zum Gedenktag der Stadt geworden. Siehe auch
